Tender moment as O’Keeffe is left high and dry

FIREMEN in Cork were left with faces as red as their appliances yesterday when their faulty equipment left both their boss and Government politician high and dry.

Deputy Batt O’Keeffe thought he only had to hand over the keys to five new appliances to Chief Fire Officer John Ryan at Central Fire Station in Anglesea Street, Cork.

However, to give the ceremony a bit of a lift, the two men were among a group hoisted into the air so that they could pose for photographs towering over the new machines.
