Speeding figures show ‘huge problems’

THREE out of four drivers caught speeding by gardaí are more than 20km/h over the limit, according to new figures.

More than 3,600 drivers are breaking the speed limits every month, according to information released by Justice Minister Michael McDowell.

He said that according to the Fixed Charge Processing System (FCPS) - the garda automated speeding system - there were a total of 128,581 incidents of speeding between February and September this year.
