Suspected killer of drug addict flees the country

A LIMERICK drugs dealer suspected of murdering a heroin addict in Southill is believed to have fled the country.

Thomas Moran, aged 26, was shot dead some time around midnight on November 12/13.

He had gone to the drugs pusher and it is understood he was refused drugs.

Some time later, an attempt was made to attack the house where the drug dealer was residing.

Within minutes Mr Moran was shot dead in nearby open ground.

Mr Moran has been involved in petty crime in order to get money to feed his drugs habit.

One theory is that he owed money to the drugs dealer and was not given a “fix” when he went in search for heroin on Sunday night, November 12.

His body was discovered at around 1am the following morning at Ashe Avenue, John Carew Park.

The garda investigation was homing in on the main suspect in recent days.

However, local sources say the man suspected of carrying out the murder has skipped the country and gone to England where members of his family are understood to reside.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Mayorstone are investigating a gun attack on the home of Frankie Ryan who was shot dead in Moyross on September 17.

A shot was fired into the Ryan home at Delmege Park at around 2.20am yesterday. A brother of the late Mr Ryan, who was in the room that was hit, narrowly missed being hit by the bullet which lodged in the stereo speaker.

The house was fire bombed shortly after the murder of Mr Ryan, who was a known associate of members of the McCarthyDundon gang.

Members of the gang currently serving jail sentences sent a massive floral tribute to the funeral.

Frankie Ryan, 21, was sitting in his car which was parked at the entrance to Pineview Gardens with a friend when a gunman shot him. It is believed that a rival drugs gang based in the north side of the city, paid a known gunman to carry out the killing. A man has appeared in court in connection with the shooting.
