Anti-Shell protesters report abuses by gardaí

FORMAL allegations that gardaí were verbally and physically abusive at a recent anti-Shell protest in Mayo have been sent to the Garda Complaints Board.

A letter, seen by the Irish Examiner, details complaints by a Galway woman claiming she received blows to her face and back while witnessing “illegal and brutal acts” by members of the force.

The Garda Complaints Board last night confirmed it received 10 complaints about alleged incidents in north Mayo.
