Bord na gCon makes near €1m pay-out

THE taxpayer was hit with another massive Bord na gCon pay-out yesterday after a senior executive with the company settled for a near €1 million package after agreeing to withdraw a bullying action against the former Greyhound Board boss Paschal Taggart and two others.

Former personnel and development manager with the board, Dermot Cross, who was sacked in July 2005, settled with the board for a package believed to total in the region of €1m in compensation and legal costs.

As part of the settlement, it is understood Mr Cross has agreed to withdraw a High Court action in which he alleges he was bullied and harassed by former Bord na gCon chairman, Paschal Taggart, and former chief executives, Michael Field and Aidan Tynan.
