LIMERICK County Council paid out €1.38 million in legal expenses last year, according to figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

Limerick firm Leahy & Partners received more than half the total with payments for legal services amounting to €779,269.

This figure is made up of €613,062 in fees, €126,264 in VAT and €39,942 outlay.
