K Club painting to go on auction for child charity
Sealed bids were invited for the painting, which is signed by the captains and players of the European and American Ryder Cup teams.
It is understood that a five-figure bid has already been received.
All money raised will go towards funding research and buying equipment at Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
“We are inviting sealed bids for this valuable painting over the next few days and also on the night of our fundraising ball on November 4,” said developer Michael O’Flynn, the chairman of the Cork Friends of Crumlin group.
The 3ft 8in by 3ft 3in painting will go to the highest bidder.
“The happiness and heartache of the 16th hole will go down in Ryder Cup history, and this visual memory will grow in value over the years” said John McHenry, the K Club’s director of golf.
Additional money will help buy extra equipment for the national referral hospital for children.
All sealed bids should be sent to Michael O’Flynn at O’Flynn Construction, Melbourne House, Model Farm Road, Cork or to Arthur French of French Estates, Millhouse, Main Street, Leixlip, Co Kildare.
