Nursing home wins top award for quality of care
CareChoice Montenotte, which was formally the Montenotte Care Centre, has won this year’s Excellence Ireland Quality Award (EIQA) for the standard of its care.
The facility was selected for the final having achieved a Grade 2 rating in the EIQA Quality of Care for Nursing Homes programme in May of this year, and it was the only nursing home in Ireland to achieve this grade.
Paul Kingston, director of CareChoice said the team in Montenotte had worked extraordinarily hard to achieve this distinction and the award acknowledged both the tremendous effort and standards they have attained.
The CareChoice Montenotte facility is part of the new CareChoice Group which also includes CareChoice Ballynoe, formally Ballynoe Nursing Home. These two existing facilities form the core of this new company.
The group has announced that it is planning to grow by acquiring existing well-run nursing homes as well as green field developments. CareChoice also plans to cater for the independent living sector, which is still in its infancy in Ireland. Both existing facilities are family run and have over 30 years experience in managing nursing homes.
Geraldine Keohane, director of nursing at the Montenotte facility, accepted the award on behalf of the staff.
