A QUARRY company will close with the loss of almost 300 jobs if it cannot develop a site in east Cork.

Paddy Healy, the managing director of Midleton- based Healy Brothers Ltd, told a Bord Pleanála oral hearing yesterday that the future of his 56-year-old company depends on securing planning permission for a 52-acre quarry in Rossmore, near Carrigtwohill.

He was speaking on the second day of the planning appeals board’s hearing into the project.
