Hospital claims midwives’ work-to-rule ‘unreasonable’

A PRIVATE hospital attempted to reassure expectant mothers yesterday ahead of planned industrial action by midwives.

Management at the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork said the care and safety of expectant mums booked to deliver their babies at the hospital over the coming week will not be jeopardised by the proposed work-to- rule by up to 90 Irish Nurses’ Organisation (INO) midwives at the hospital.

Management said the action, due to start on Tuesday week, was “unreasonable” and could not be justified.
