THE former Tánaiste Mary Harney categorically denied last night that Taoiseach Bertie Ahern had told her that he had received loans from friends in 1993 and 1994.

Ms Harney, speaking in Tullamore last night, said that she had never discussed Mr Ahern’s personal finance with him, nor spoken to him about loans or about his separation.

Her comments clearly contradicted what the Taoiseach said in the Dáil yesterday, in the course of his statement outlining how he came to buy his house of Manchester-based businessman Micheál Wall.
