City of Culture knitting map to tour US

THE Knitting Map of Cork will be taken off out storage within months for a tour of the east coast of America.

And the project could be replicated by women in East London for display at the 2012 Olympics, it emerged last night.

Organisers of the widely criticised 258,200 Cork 2005 project moved last night to ease the fears of more than 2,000 women who were involved after it emerged that the massive 40 metre by 20 metre work is in storage in the city centre.
