Junior Cert mum, 45, proves it’s never too late to learn

MAUREEN HENNIGAR could barely read bank statements or signs in the shops three years ago — but yesterday she achieved a B-grade in Junior Certificate English.

At 45 years of age, the mother-of-three from Thomondgate in Limerick decided to do something about her reading problems and is now reaping the rewards of her labour.

She worked hard, beginning with basic spelling for the first few months and prepared for the English exam over the past year.
