More than 4,000 register opposition to gay marriage by letter to working group

MORE than 4,000 people have registered their opposition to legalising gay marriages, by letter, to the working group set up to guide Government policy on the issue.

The majority of submissions made to the Working Group on Domestic Partnership were in the form of a letter opposing any legislative change, and these were individually signed.

An additional 180 separate objections were more diverse in their suggestions, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform said.
