Councillors threaten retail centre plans for dock

MEMBERS of Limerick City Council threatened yesterday to block plans to turn Limerick docks into a major retail and commercial centre.

They said they will block the plans unless the Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC) can reach agreement with port users on the sell off of Limerick docks.

The SFPC is at present examining offers from property developers for the purchase of 44 acres which include the inner dock area.
