Hunt for two after serious sexual assault
A 21-year-old woman was sexually and physically assaulted after she left the Station nightclub in Youghal at around 2.30am on Saturday.
Gardaí were examining CCTV footage taken from the club yesterday.
An investigating garda appealed for witnesses to come forward — in particular members of the town’s non-national community.
It is understood the young woman walked away after two men approached her outside the nightclub. She told gardaí she believes she was then followed.
She stepped into Paxes Lane, in the hope they would walk by. But one of the men attacked her in the lane at around 2.40am. She was found dishevelled and semi-conscious a short time later. Gardaí arrived at the scene just after 3am.
She was taken to the sexual assault unit at Cork University Hospital where it was confirmed she had been the victim of a sexual assault.
One of the men was about 5 foot 10 inches height, of strong build, with short dark hair and a distinctive goatee beard on his chin only, with locks running under his jaw.
Witnesses were asked to contact Youghal Garda Station on 024-92200.
