Statutory rape report a whitewash, says Kenny

THE report inquiring into the failure of officials within his office to inform Attorney General Rory Brady about the constitutional case on statutory rape was yesterday dismissed as a “political whitewash” by Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny.

Mr Kenny said the report did not adequately explain the system failures that resulted in Mr Brady learning of the case only when the verdict was delivered in May.

He also lambasted the Government decision not to allow the report be debated in the Dáil yesterday.
