Spectacular blaze of colour as sailing championships get off to flying start

HAVING been delayed for a day because of unsuitable weather conditions, a major sailing event got underway with a huge splash of colour in Tralee Bay yesterday.

More than 50 yachts under full sail provided a spectacular sight at the opening of the West of Ireland Offshore Racing Association’s annual West Coast Championships at Fenit.

Upwards of 400 sailors are taking part in the event, which is one of the highlights of Tralee Bay Sailing Club’s (TBSC) 50th anniversary celebrations.
