PART of a site formerly used by employees of Waterford Crystal as a car park is set to be transformed into the city’s second Aldi store.

Waterford County Council has granted permission for another Aldi store, this time on a site at the Kingsmeadow. The project will also include a café and car showroom.

Two objections/submissions had been lodged to the development, one from Green Party member Brendan McCann and the second from a neighbour. Three years ago, Aldi received permission for a store and leisure complex at Kingsmeadow, but a string of conditions were attached.
