Meanwhile, gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses after a 27-year-old man was attacked in the city centre early yesterday morning.

The man was set upon at Lower O’Connell Street at around 3.15am. His attacker is described as tall with a skin-tight haircut. The injured man is being treated at Beaumont Hospital and his condition is stable.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs is continuing to work with Croatian authorities following a road accident three days ago in which an Irish woman was killed and another seriously injured.

Officials say the injured person is understood to be in a critical condition in hospital in the Croatian town of Pula.

The accident happened on the main road between Pula and Porec in the far northwest of Croatia.

A minibus operated by the Kompas travel agency was carrying a group of tourists when it veered onto the wrong side of the road and hit a truck. A total of five foreign tourists were killed in the crash as well as the driver of the bus.
