DEAR old Dublin is living up to its reputation as a new survey shows prices for many basic foodstuffs are more expensive in the capital than elsewhere in Ireland.

A price survey of 73 goods and services last month reveals a majority of everyday grocery items cost more in Dublin.

It also highlights that the gap in the cost of living between the capital and the regions is still growing. A typical shopping basket costs 3.5% more in Dublin than other parts, compared to 3.2% last year.
