CONSUMERS should not have to bear the cost of improvements to energy infrastructure, committee chairman Noel O’Flynn said.

Instead, the Government should budget for such improvements in the National Development Plan or other spending schemes.

“The National Development Plan should be paying for infrastructure, whether it’s a gas pipeline, an interconnector, or the [electricity] grid. It shouldn’t be put on to a person’s electricity bill or gas bill,” he said.
