Finding finance to start a business or grow an existing company is not always easy. But an information event to be held in Waterford on June 19 will cover most of the opportunities available.

According to Aidan Shine, financial specialist at the South East Business & Innovation Centre (BIC), finance is one of the key worries for start-up businesses.

“Our aim is to highlight the main sources of funding available to entrepreneurs and innovators in the South East region,” he added.

“The event will last just 90 minutes and participants will learn about bank funding; how to source money from private investors; venture capital and government financial supports,” he said.

Speakers include Pat Cullinane, manager of the Bank of Ireland in Waterford city, Tom Shinkwin of Enterprise Equity Venture Capital and Patrick Munden of South East BIC.

Lar Burke, manager of the recently launched Halo National Business Angel Partnership, will also speak.

“For a business to grow, it needs a mixture of debt and equity funding, which can be sourced from private and public investors. This conference highlights all these sources and will give participants an opportunity to meet with providers in one room,” Mr Shine added.

The conference will be held in the Ramada hotel on the Cork Road, Waterford, on June 19, from 5.30pm to 7pm. It is sponsored by Bank of Ireland, Enterprise Equity and South East BIC. Admission is free.
