EU regulation encourages more medicines

MORE medicines are to be developed specifically for children following the introduction of a new European Union research regulation.

Up to now more than half of all medicines used to treat sick children have only been tested on adults but that is to change.

The EU regulation agreed yesterday will increase the availability of fully researched and authorised medicines using a package of requirements, rewards and support measures.
