AN inquiry is being carried out into how a 32-year-old woman, who cares full time for her wheelchair-bound mother, was locked up in a garda cell for the night.

Michelle Quinn, who also looks after her four-year-old daughter, spent last Tuesday night in the cells at the Bridewell Garda Station, in Cork, after failing to appear as a witness in a court case.

She was taken from her home at Inchera Park, Mahon, by gardaí on Tuesday evening, a few hours after the case was adjourned because of her non-appearance.
