Sergeant denies threats to publican

A GARDA Sergeant yesterday denied telling a publican his premises would becontinuously raided by gardaí in a bid to extract information from him over thedeath of a Donegal cattle dealer.

Det Sgt Padraic Scanlon told the Morris Tribunal he had never issued a warning to Mark Quinn whilehe was detained in Letterkenny Garda Station, in December 1996, in relation to the death of Richie Barron.

“I didn’t say that, I never said that,” the sergeant, who was called into Letterkenny station on the night of December 4, 1996, to assist in the arrests, said.
