FG keen to recruit ex-GAA chief for looming Dáil race

FINE GAEL will make an approach to former GAA president Sean Kelly to stand as a candidate shortly after its Árd Fheis next weekend.

The Irish Examiner understands the party is keen to recruit Mr Kelly to stand on its ticket in Kerry South alongside Dingle councillor, Séamus Cósai Mac Gearailt.

However, according to reliable sources within the party, it was thought better to leave an appropriate gap between the end of Mr Kelly’s tenure as GAA president and any approach to him.
