FEARS that the creation of a village could lead to the demise of one of the country’s leading agricultural colleges have been firmly scotched by its principal.

The Department of Agriculture is transferring 14 hectares of land at Teagasc’s Clonakilty Agricultural College to Cork County Council for the development of more than 100 affordable houses at Darrara.

Concerns have been raised locally that the controversial project could spell the end of the 101-year-old college.
