McDowell ‘concerned’ at increase in murders

THE number of murders and shootings have jumped in the last three months, according to official figures.

Overall serious crime has increased in the first nine months of this year, marking a reversal in falling crime figures for more than two years.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell said he was “very concerned” at the increase, particularly the rise of 5.5% in the last quarter.
