‘I’m trying to do my best for my kids’

The 33-year-old lone parent of four school-going children enrolled on a Community Employment Scheme in February this year which, in August, involved her beginning a computer course.

Her first blow came when she applied for the back to school allowance that month to help with the cost of uniforms and books.
