Incinerator row goes on

A ROW has broken out between a company proposing to build Ireland’s first toxic waste incinerator and a group opposed to the development concerning the World Health Organisation’s views on burning waste.

Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment (CHASE) said yesterday it stood over claims that Indaver Ireland quoted outdated World Health Organization (WHO) reports regarding the health effects of dioxins, when later reports confirmed dioxins as a Class 1 human carcinogen.
