Childcare package to be unveiled over several Budgets

THE Taoiseach yesterday indicated that the Government’s long-awaited package on childcare would be unveiled over a number of years.

Bertie Ahern, speaking in Dublin yesterday, said that everyone involved in the childcare sector recognised that it was a matter that would not be dealt with in a single Budget.

His comments followed similar remarks by Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan on Sunday night.
