THE Government has been accused of plummeting to a new low in its plan to slash 1,000 jobs in the education sector.

Teachers’ union leader John Carr said any proposed cuts in primary education would hurt children.

Mr Carr, general secretary of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation, said any threat to the primary schools sector should be withdrawn immediately.
