Gardaí probe farm shooting

A FILE is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following the release from garda custody yesterday of a middle-aged man questioned about a fatal shooting in Co Mayo.

The 60-year-old man, a farmer, was arrested yesterday after a confrontation at his farm. The body of John Ward, 43, was found in a field. He had sustained a fatal head injury.

A wide area around the farm remained sealed off yesterday as gardaí attempted to piece together what happened at the farmhouse.
