€900m cuts only a start, says defiant McCreevy

MORE spending cutbacks are on the way after Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy revealed that the public finances are in an even worse state than was originally thought.

A Government memo published last weekend sought €900 million in cuts across a range of Government departments.

Mr MrCreevy said yesterday that cuts in excess of that would be required.
