THREE constituencies in the south and west could lose a TD in the next general election due to a fall in the voting population, it emerged yesterday.

The Central Statistics Office’s (CSO) final figures for Dáil constituencies released yesterday confirmed the average number of people each TD should represent is 23,598.

But several Cork constituencies, along with Longford-Roscommon and Sligo-Leitrim, fall short of this figure and they could all lose a TD before the next general election, according to political analyst, Noel Whelan.
