STRESS, depression and a rise in the number of young male suicides are major concerns in rural areas, a survey revealed yesterday.

Macra na Feirme’s survey of 101 successful young farmers under the age of 35 found 69% fear not enough is being done to address the problem.

Macra president Thomas Honner said the results are very worrying as the respondents represent the wider rural community and those in remote areas may have difficulty findingfind it difficult to find help.
