THE chief executive of the Health Service Executive has said that funding for the health services will now be directed at services “which have demonstrated that they are working well.”

He said he would be driven by the “what is in the best interest of the public” and that the health service had to challenge “its own vested interests.”

Prof Brendan Drumm said he intends to “put a huge focus” on primary and community care and that “we will never take the overloading out of the system without investment in these areas.”
