EPA calls for greater fines on rogue dumpers

THE Government must bring in tougher fines and give waste control agencies powers to move quickly against rogue dumpers, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said yesterday.

This follows the EPA’s first High Court success in shutting down an illegal waste operator who had repeatedly broken the terms of his operating licence.

The EPA secured a High Court order to stop Dublin Waste from operating at its depot in Sheriff Street.
