CRÈCHES are the most widely used childcare option in Ireland. With the introduction of Government regulations regarding staff and premises in 1996, conditions have improved considerably.

Choosing a Crèche

Costs vary widely, depending on the size and location of the crèche. Crèches surveyed in the Cork area charged between €85 and €150 per week for full-time care (8am-6pm). In the Dublin area, charges ranged from €150 to €250 per week.

The National Nurseries Association of Ireland suggests parents consider the following when choosing a crèche:
