THE rebel group accused of murdering Irish Archbishop Michael Courtney in Burundi has given the head of the Catholic Church there one month to leave the country.

The head of the bishop’s conference, Simon Ntamwana, claimed the National Liberation Forces (FNL) murdered the Irish-born Papal Nuncio to Burundi, last Monday, and described the attack as an execution.

The FNL denies any involvement in the shooting, saying the Burundian Army was responsible.
