A PATIENT lobby group is to request a change in legislation to prevent doctors struck off by the Medical Council practicing alternative medicine.

Patients’ group seeks action against ‘struck-off’ doctors

Patient Focus has written to Health Minister Micheál Martin seeking a meeting to raise concerns about a doctor found guilty of professional misconduct being allowed continue to offer alternative therapies.

Clare doctor Paschal Carmody, who practices conventional and alternative medicine, was recently found guilty of professional misconduct following a full inquiry by the Medical Council’s Fitness to Practice Committee.
