Postmasters may escalate dispute

PROTESTING postmasters may decide today to escalate their dispute by blocking all mail facilities at upwards of 1,740 contract offices.

Pension payments, child benefits and other services would be unaffected but the Irish Postmasters’ Union warned all mail facilities could be disrupted.

Meanwhile, postal deliveries in parts of Mayo and Co Waterford were badly disrupted yesterday as staff refused to travel to central sorting offices for the collection of mail.
