Government urged to break cycle of poverty

THE Government was yesterday urged by the country's largest charity to "break the cycle of disadvantage now".

St Vincent de Paul spelled out what life is like for people living on the margins while the economy continues to boom.

Launching the charity's pre-Budget submission, SVP president Professor John Monaghan said: "Our members are as busy as ever - we make over 300,000 visits every year to people in need.
