Fresh fight after meeting with McDowell cancelled

A FRESH row has broken out between Justice Minister Michael McDowell and the family of Donegal publican Frank McBrearty Snr after a planned meeting between the parties yesterday was cancelled at the last minute.

Both sides blamed each other for the failure to hold a scheduled meeting at the Department of Justice in Dublin to discuss the McBreartys' concern about the State's refusal to pay their legal costs at the Morris Tribunal.

Mr McDowell claimed the family had effectively placed pre-conditions on the meeting to which he could not agree.
