THE ill-fated Rising Sun lobster boat which sank last November drowning two men is expected to be raised on Saturday, weather permitting.

The family of missing skipper Pat Colfer hope his remains will be recovered when the vessel is finally brought to shore. They believe his body could be in the wheel house.

The company awarded the contract to recover the vessel began preparatory work on the vessel on Monday. It sank off the Wexford coast on November 29.

A spokesman said unfavourable tides are slowing the company’s work.

“We expect to check the tides again on Friday, and if they are favourable, we would hope to start specialist work in 25-minute stages in the slack tides.

“It could take up to two days before we lift it,” he added.

Forty-seven-year-old Jimmy Myler was rescued from the tragedy, but he later died in hospital. The third crew man, 26-year-old Ian Tierney, was the sole survivor.
