Farrell SWAT on with 8.5m film deal

IRISH actor Colin Farrell will take another step towards superstardom with an 8.5 million euro payday for his next film, SWAT.

The heart throb, 26, who appears with Tom Cruise in the current cinema thriller Minority Report, is to play Officer Jim Street in Columbia Pictures’ film SWAT, US entertainment trade newspaper Variety reports.

Based on a 1970s US TV series, SWAT stars Samuel L Jackson as the leader of a Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team who are transporting an arrested drug kingpin out of the city and into federal custody. Their plans hit problems, however, when the gangster offers $100m to anyone who can free him.
