‘INVESTING in Education’ was the ambiguous title of the Fianna Fáil policy statement. In hindsight, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t specify who exactly will be doing the investing.

Back on May 5, the Taoiseach said the Government had an ambitious agenda for the years ahead. "Our record shows the largest period of sustained investment in the history of Irish education. But we fully recognise that there is still much to do," he said.

Under the heading 'Investing in Third-Level', the party said it would modernise buildings, expand the number of students from poorer backgrounds who qualify for the top-up grant and so on.
