RETAILERS have made significant improvements in displaying prices since the Director of Consumer Affairs began actively enforcing prices legislation earlier this year.

“While we have made significant progress over the past few months it is my objective to ensure that all traders comply with their obligations,” Ms Carmel Foley warned yesterday.

A team of 20 inspectors from the director’s office have been ensuring that retailers are displaying the prices of all products on sale or face fines of up to 3,000. While no retailer has been fined yet, Ms Foley warned she would bring prosecutions once there was general awareness of the new legislation among retailers.
