Police and fire crews get into gear to raise 20,000 euro for cancer children

The group who set off yesterday from Cahir, Co Tipperary on the second leg of their 160-mile trip from Dublin raised over 20,000 euro for the children's cancer unit of Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin.

"We got a great response from the public on the way," said organiser Niall O'Brien, overwhelmed by the generosity the riders met on the route. "We set a target of 10,000 euro, but it looks like we'll get well over 20,000 euro. This morning people were giving 50 and 20 euro notes."
